Units respond to early morning house fire in Morgantown

MORGANTOWN, Ky. – An early morning fire is out thanks to the response of several agencies in Morgantown on Saturday.
According to chief Henderson with the Fifth District Rural Volunteer Fire Department, Fifth District, Fourth District and Morgantown fire units responded to Adam Flener Road for smoke coming from an attic.
Upon arrival, Morgantown units reportedly began trying to find the cause of the smoke.
Fourth and fifth district personnel arrived on scene and began providing assistance, according to Henderson.
Personnel reportedly located a fire in the attic over the living room.
Henderson says after suppressing the fire, fire personnel located burnt wiring in the living room ceiling.
The fire was then brought under control, Henderson says.
Fire officials say while the structure was saved with minor to moderate damage to the roof and drywall, the resident will have a “long and difficult road” ahead for her and her pets, especially with this weekend’s weather.
