United Way of Southern Kentucky talks regional needs

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A recently received survey from United Way of The Bluegrass shows many Kentuckians were in need last year and still this year in 2024. Among the requests for help, the highest numbers are in home repair,  low cost housing, utilities and rent assistance.

United Way of Southern Kentucky is one community resource that can be reached for assistance for many health and human services. Just last year, the local organization had made over seven thousand contacts and spent almost 50 thousand minutes on the phone connecting people with resources  who contacted the organization and used 211, a regional phone number that you can call for all kinds of help.
Vice President Ellie Harbaugh said the survey illustrates just how much help is required around the state and hopes that the numbers will bring in more funding.
