UPDATE: Two adults, infant injured after horse and buggy accident in Logan County

LOGAN COUNTY, Ky. – Two people and an infant were injured after a serious accident in Logan County.

The collision happened Thursday morning at the intersection of Morgantown Road and the 79 Loop.

The Logan County Sheriff’s Department said Michael Southerland, 61, of Russellville was driving south on Hwy 79 when he failed to see a horse and buggy on the roadway. The horse and buggy were struck from behind by Southerland’s truck. All three passengers were ejected from the buggy.

Levi Hershberger, 21 of Russellville and Amanda Hershberger, 21, of Russellville were taken to The Medical Center in Bowling Green with serious injuries, where they were treated and released. The infant was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Authorities said the horse survived the accident and the driver was not injured.
