TVA volunteers help nonprofits, present $10,000 check to International Center of Kentucky

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Volunteers with the Tennessee Valley Authority stayed busy this week helping numerous nonprofit organizations in Bowling Green.
Along with multiple projects, the TVA presented a $10,000 check to the International Center of Kentucky. The TVA says the organization will use the funds for computer equipment to offer clients language software, job searches and resume development activities.
TVA volunteers didn’t stop there and also helped prepare for Friday’s Trunk or Treat at the Bowling Green Police Department. The TVA says volunteers helped package sweet treats and fill coolers with water.
Additional stops included the following:
- Cleaning at Down Syndrome of South Central Kentucky.
- Cleaning, landscaping and shelf assembly at The Foundry Christian Community Center.
- Cleaning and painting at CASA of South Central Kentucky.
- Hanging Christmas lights outside and stuffing envelopes for a large mail project at the Historic Railpark and Train Museum.
- Helping with mock interviews and other mentoring activities at LifeWorks at WKU.
- Prepping snacks for a Halloween party and cleaning at the Boys & Girls Club of the Bowling Green Area.
- Helping with organizing the International Center of Kentucky’s warehouse.
- Painting, installing flooring, landscaping and installing cabinets at Habitat for Humanity.
- Painting, landscaping and office help at Kentucky Kids on the Block.
- Performing inventory of clothing onsite at Hope Harbor, Inc.
- Helping with light construction work inside of two counseling rooms at the Hope House Ministries community store.
- Stuffing welcome bags for the Bowling Green Area Convention & Visitors Bureau.
- Assisting the National Corvette Museum as needed.
- Assembling backpacks for students in Bowling Green and Warren County for the SOKY Patriots Bowling Green Backpack Program.
- Assisting with office help and making memorial hats for Glory Baby Ministry.
- Assisting with yardwork and assembling door bows for adoption awareness at the Family Enrichment Center.
The TVA says a total of 170 employees helped this past week to make these projects happen.
