Tri-County Electric Membership Corporation continues work on power outages

ALLEN COUNTY, Ky. – Thursday marks day five since the winter storm moved through Tri-County Electric Membership Corporation’s service area.
Tri-County Electric says many of its members have been without heat, hot water or the ability to prepare meals, and while progress is ongoing, the company says it understands how difficult this continues to be for those that are still waiting.
Tri-County Electric says it started Thursday with fewer than 7,000 metered locations without power, down from approximately 15,000 Wednesday morning.
According to the company, this represents significant progress, although crews have much work ahead.
Crews have repaired damage to most of the three-phase backbone lines, according to Tri-County Electric. The company says it is now increasingly focused on single-phase and secondary service lines that serve individual homes and businesses.
Tri-County Electric says it continues restoration efforts, with around 364 total personnel actively working, including local crews, contract crews and mutual aid.
The company says it is grateful to the 60 crews from neighboring co-ops, municipal utilities and contractors who are assisting at this time.
Tri-County Electric says it can’t yet provide specific restoration times, however, that information is coming.
According to the company, it will not stop working until service is restored.
“Please continue to keep one another—and our crews—in your thoughts and prayers,” Tri-County Electric says.
