Trader Joe’s construction making strides in Franklin

SIMPSON COUNTY, Ky. – In Simpson County there are big developments being made just off Exit 6, the Trader Joe’s distribution center.

The three buildings on 160 acres will total 1 million square feet and make way for 900 jobs once fully complete. Right now they seem to be on schedule with the first building expected to be done no later than January 1, 2024. This is the largest development project in Simpson County history and it’s rapid progress is quite a surprise to county officials.
On the buzzing topic, News 40 spoke to Simpson County’s Judge-Executive, Mason Barnes. Via a Zoom call, Barnes admitted he was skeptical of the timeline that was presented to complete such a large endeavor, but construction has been trucking on to his surprise.
Barnes said the first building of the three that will set off the interstate will not only be completed soon, but at least 40 people have been hired and are being trained now.
