Toys For Tots opening day in Warren County
WARREN COUNTY, Ky. – December 7 was the first day of toy distribution by Toys For Tots in our local area, already serving almost a thousand children.
The United States Marine Corps operates Toys For Tots, a year-round operation culminating near Christmas time. It aims to provide a good Christmas for children who might be less fortunate.
This year, coordinator Janel Doyle said there were more requests for assistance, she assumed this was due to the current economy across the nation. While there were more calls for help, Doyle said donations came much more quickly and were larger this year than in recent years.
Warren County also received a visit from a Toys For Tots Foundation official for the first time. Deputy Vice President Mike Stuckey told News 40 he was impressed with how much community support the local TOTS effort had. He added that it was great to see there was no shortage of volunteers in Bowling Green.
Doyle said people are still able to request toys ahead of Christmas, saying that the phone line will be open until December 18. You can call at 270-562-0518.
