Toys for Tots distribution ends with massive donation
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Over the weekend, kids from the community were given hundreds of gifts through the Marine Reserves program Toys for Tots.
Kids and parents arrived into the “North Pole” off of Old Barren River Road and picked up bags full of toys to take home for Christmas.
Kids who tagged along with their parents were also allowed to pick out a stuffed animal from a bin.
To top off all of the generosity in the air, an anonymous donor sent a semi-truck full of bikes to begin next Christmas’ collection to give away.
Local marines and volunteers unloaded bicycle after bicycle filling a large portion of a storage room with around 300 bikes.
Families were thrilled with the gifts they are now going to be able to provide for their children.
“This is great for real. This has been a help to me and my family, but not only mine, my nieces and nephews as well. A lot of us don’t have a lot of money to spend on toys and stuff for Christmas,” said Xavier Mitchell, a recipient of toys on Saturday.
The Bowling Green Fire Department will be partnering with Toys for Tots on Christmas day handing out 100 gifts to 100 children.
Toys for Tots is always accepting donations.
