Tompkinsville man captured after vehicle pursuit
TOMPKINSVILLE, Ky. – A Tompkinsville man is facing charges following a vehicle pursuit in Monroe County.
According to a uniform citation, the Kentucky State Police observed a vehicle around 6:30 p.m. Saturday traveling on Sandlick Road.
Authorities say they saw the driver, identified as Timothy Jackson, 40, of Tompkinsville, who was known to have multiple active warrants outside of Monroe County.
A pursuit then began after troopers say the vehicle tried to flee from an attempted traffic stop.
The pursuit continued on Sandlick Road, reaching speeds over 100 miles per hour, authorities say.
Following the use of stop sticks, authorities say the pursuit eventually stopped when the vehicle tried to leave the right side of the road and hit a stump.
Authorities say Jackson then tried to run from law enforcement.
After a brief pursuit, Jackson fell and was arrested.
Officials say they located a handgun in Jackson’s possession. In addition, authorities say a vehicle search led to the discovery of suspected methamphetamine.
Jackson had a minor injury from the collision and was transported to T.J, Samson Community Hospital by EMS.
He was later taken to the Barren County Detention Center, where he faces charges of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first offense (methamphetamine), first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, no registration receipt, failure of non-owner operator to maintain required insurance/security, first offense, reckless driving, disregarding a stop sign, first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), first-degree fleeing or evading police (on foot), failure to produce insurance card, operating on a suspended or revoked operators license, second-degree assault (domestic violence), fourth-degree assault (domestic violence, minor injury), fourth-degree assault (minor injury), second-degree criminal mischief – restitution/repair, receiving stolen property and serving parole violation warrant.
