Throwback Thursday – Bowling Green Christian Academy celebrates 25 years

A Bowling Green educational institution is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. Bowling Green Christian Academy, currently housed in the Living Hope Baptist Church campus, has evolved into one of the largest private school offerings in the area.

The inaugural class search began in 1993. Families in the Bowling Green area were looking for a non-denominational Christian-based education for their children. A committee sought potential locations for a new school, and landed in the Hillvue Heights Church leasing classrooms, administrative offices and a cafeteria.

Bowling Green Christian Academy officially opened in August of 1994 with an enrollment of 47 students. The academy was small with only four teachers leading classes of two grades at once from kindergarten through sixth grades. Within just one year, enrollment tripled to over 120 students.

The demand for older students grew and the school added classes for teens in middle and high school, and expanded to include athletic and team building opportunities. Bowling Green Christian Academy is part of the Middle Tennessee Athletic Conference, with students participating in golf, cross country running, tennis, volleyball, football and basketball.

The school moved from its Hillvue Heights location in 2015 to its current Living Hope campus on Westen Street. With thousands of alumni carrying the tradition, Bowling Green Christian Academy is celebrating its 25-year anniversary throughout the Fall 2019 and Spring 2020 school year.
