Three local schools honored for preparing their students for higher education

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Three area high schools are being recognized with a National College Success Award from the website GreatSchools.org.

Greenwood High School, South Warren High School and Barren County High School are part of the 31 Kentucky schools that have received the award. According to a release by Warren County public schools, the winning schools demonstrated a successful past of graduating students who are sufficiently ready for education after high school. Although WCPS says its not just about getting them to college.

“We have faculty and staff who are so committed to the success of students that we understand college is not for all students, but those that it is for. We are working really hard to make sure that they succeed once they get there. It’s not just about getting them to college. It is about them successfully completing college” said Dr. Tracey Young, Director of Grants and Community Outreach for Warren County Public Schools.

Over 1,400 winners in 19 states were selected for this honor. Young credits the work of not just the educators, but also the students and they continue to meet and blow past expectations that are set for them.
