Threat at Muhlenberg County Courthouse prompts evacuations, no threat detected

GREENVILLE, Ky. – A possible threat Thursday morning prompted evacuations around the Muhlenberg County Courthouse, however, officials say no threat was located.

The Greenville Fire Department says a portion of South Main Street was shut down for a period of time.

Several police, fire and state officials were later joined by federal agencies outside of the county, according to the fire department.

Officials say there was no threat to Greenville Elementary School.

Details are limited, and the nature of the threat has not been released at this time.

As of Thursday evening, officials say the area is considered safe and the scene has been cleared.
