As the Toys for Tots coordinator, Doyle embodies the spirit of giving.
“I have a servant heart and I have a love for others, especially children,” she shares. “It truly takes a village.”
This philosophy has been the backbone of her work, allowing her to foster connections that extend beyond the holiday season.
Under Doyle’s leadership, the reach of Toys for Tots in Kentucky has expanded dramatically. What began as a modest initiative serving just 200 families has grown to impact over 20,000 children in 2023 alone.
Tom Harris, a volunteer from the Marine Corps League, says, “Janel has put us on the map. We’ve expanded from 10 to 22 counties during her tenure as coordinator. She’s the glue that holds all this together.”
Doyle’s commitment goes far beyond logistics. She is a tireless organizer, creating a vibrant hub for holiday giving that engages dozens of volunteers. Each year, she helps change the narrative of Christmas morning for thousands of children in Kentucky.
“We’re constantly here organizing, planning and touching toys,” she says, emphasizing the behind-the-scenes work that makes the program successful.
The community response has been overwhelmingly positive, providing the motivation that drives Janelle and her team forward.
“We get told thank you a whole, whole lot. And that means a lot,” she says.
Even more inspiring is the trend of families who have benefited from the program returning to volunteer once they are back on their feet, completing a cycle of generosity and support.
Doyle’s story is a testament to the profound impact one person can have on an entire community. Through her efforts with Toys for Tots, she is not only changing lives during the holidays but is also nurturing a culture of giving that will last for generations to come.
As she continues her mission, the spirit of service she promotes will undoubtedly inspire many more to join her cause.
