Hart County Sheriff’s Office has a new, four-legged deputy
MUNFORDVILLE, Ky. – A local sheriff’s office is welcoming a new deputy, and she’s got four legs and a tail.
That new deputy, K-9 Rina.
She’s brand new to the Hart County Sheriff’s Office and to her new dad and partner, Caleb Butler.
Rina is a Belgian malinois from Hungary and only knows commands in Dutch.
She turns two years old this week and is highly trained to detect narcotics.
Butler met his new crime fighting partner yesterday, and today was grooming day for Rina.
The pair are strictly bonding this week and Butler says his new partner hasn’t yet figured out the difference between working and off duty quite yet.
On Feb. 21, Butler and Rina will go through evaluation for certification for narcotics detection.
Then, deputies Rina and Butler will be ready for patrol.
