Taylor County funeral home director indicted on fraud charges

FRANKFORT, Ky. – A Taylor County funeral home director has been indicted on charges related to allegedly defrauding more than a dozen families.

According to a release, Attorney General Russell Coleman announced the indictment Thursday, involving 53-year-old Donald Auberry.

Auberry is formally charged with 13 counts of violation of trust provisions/pre need payments for funeral services, officials say.

According to the indictment, between July 2021 and April 2025, Auberry “defrauded families who paid for his funeral services.” The alleged abuses happened at least 13 times.

The Attorney General’s Department of Criminal Investigations investigated the case.

Arraignment is scheduled for June 23.
