Suspects arrested in Alabama after stealing vehicle from Kentucky home, police say

ELKTON, Ky. – A Kentucky man and a Tennessee woman are facing charges related to a vehicle theft, according to the Elkton Police Department.

On Wednesday, May 1, police say they responded to the 100 block of Water Street in Elkton for a stolen vehicle.

When they arrived, police say they learned the suspects had a vehicle break down in front of the home. According to police, that vehicle had an unauthorized use complaint out of Tennessee.

At the scene, police say the suspects had been invited inside when they said they had no food or money. Police say the suspects then stole the victim’s keys and vehicle from the residence.

Those suspects, identified as 34-year-old Hugo Vazquez of Oak Grove, Kentucky and 23-year-old Makayla Magness of Woodlawn, Tennessee, were located on the morning of May 2 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, police say.

Both were arrested and charged with receiving stolen property in Alabama.

Charges are pending in Todd County by the Elkton Police Department for theft by unlawful taking or disposition auto between $1,000 and $10,000 and theft of motor vehicle registration plate.
