Suspect in fatal shooting of sheriff’s deputy appears in court

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – The suspect in a fatal shooting of a sheriff’s deputy in Tennessee was in court Tuesday.
Authorities say Kenneth DeHart killed Blount County deputy Greg McCowan and injured deputy Shelby Eggers during a traffic stop on Feb. 8.
Eggers was shot in the leg.
DeHart was arrested after a nearly five-day search.
He’s facing charges that include first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder.
DeHart’s case was moved to a grand jury after Tuesday’s preliminary hearing.
