Students participate in hands-on career fair at annual SCK Launch

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Students from 12 Kentucky school districts may be looking at their future careers thanks to this year’s SCK Launch Experience.
This hands-on career fair for eighth graders offers the chance to explore possible careers and dreams across multiple industries, including construction, healthcare, hospitality, manufacturing, professional services, public services, transportation, distribution and logistics.
SCK LAUNCH is a partnership between the Bowling Green Area Chamber Foundation, the Bowling Green Independent School District, Warren County Public Schools and local businesses to ensure students succeed in their careers.
Ron Bunch, president and CEO of the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce, shared the impact of the event.
He says, “I’s incredible to think that more than 20,000 eighth graders across south central Kentucky have embarked on this journey of career discovery. This event is a key moment where students begin to envision their future careers and explore their passions. We are deeply grateful to the local businesses that brought these exhibits to life and to the investors whose unwavering support makes it all possible. A special thanks to the educators who devote their class time to expanding their students’ horizons. We eagerly anticipate the day when these students return as not just employees, but as leaders and champions of our community.”
Fifty-seven local businesses and organizations, including WNKY News 40, provided a look into the real world of careers, according to a release by the chamber.
The chamber says before the event, students were introduced to high-demand careers through lessons to help them understand different sectors.
The SCK Launch Experience continues through Friday, Oct. 25. News 40 will have more details on-air and online at WNKY.com.
