StepStone Family & Youth Services hosting Wrapped in Love blanket drive to benefit foster children in community
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A local foster group is hosting a blanket drive to help the community during the winter months.
StepStone Family and Youth Services in Bowling Green provides therapy and case management to foster children and families in the area.
Each year, StepStone takes part in the Wrapped in Love blanket drive to make sure every child stays warm during the winter.
Even though the drive takes place around Valentines Day, many community members help out year round.
“I know that there was this one person, it was a while back, so it wasn’t like for Wrapped in Love, but she just donated like 6 or 7 blankets that she had just made… and she was like ‘We just made these, and we had them. We want to give back.’ And I was like ‘This is so amazing, so so awesome. So any blanket will do. If you have the blankets, you have the space, have the time, you want to donate, please donate,” licensing specialist Makaio Smith says.
Smith says the staff at StepStone is honored to help provide a little warmth to the kids’ lives.
“It’s really important for foster care during this time. A lot of them come with not much, just… sometimes clothes on their backs. So during this time we really like to give back to our community, give back to the foster kids and really help them out, give them something warm,” she says.
You can drop off blankets at any branch of the Warren County Public Library, Davis and Son Body Shop, Guarantee Pest Control, and The Heritage apartments.
