Staying safe on two wheels this summer

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – On Friday, July 14, BikeWalk BG will be hosting a block party on 485 Glen Lily Road for the community.

With the summer season here, you’re going to see more 2-wheeled options on the road and safety can be a big concern for cyclists in a more metro area. BikeWalk BG is an organization focused on getting people up and active, whether it be walking or riding a bike and advocating for and educating on safety practices for those citizens that choose that method of transportation.

At the rodeo, they’ll have free bike repairs, inflatables and some bike-related giveaways like reflective lights.

Speaking with the Barren River District Health Department and BikeWalk BG, head injuries are the most common mishap when it comes to biking and visibility is your best bet when it comes to avoiding an accident. News 40 was told more than once that wearing the proper attire will go a long way, such as light colored clothes and reflective tape or vests.
