Staycation? Edmonson and Barren County have you covered
SOUTH CENTRAL KENTUCKY – Sometimes you don’t have the time, money, ability or just don’t want to go far from home for fun.
There are a few places around SoKy that can provide you and the family with some entertainment for the summer, whether it be a cave or an off road trail. Edmonson County’s executive director of tourism told News 40 some notable places would be the Blue Holler Off Road Park, as well as Nolin Lake State Park.
Vanessa Ulm with the tourism department said “people often overlook what’s in their backyard” and she said she understands, when you see it every day you may not pay it much mind.
Something else you might want to consider would be golf, both traditional and disc. Ulm said they have state of the art facilities for both.
News 40 headed to Glasgow too to hear what Glasgow-Barren County Tourism had to say about their area, where Landry Steenbergen said that there are airBnBs aplenty for anyone wanting to stay a day or two. Steenbergen said the square is a great place for the community with a lot of local eateries around to try out.
She also recommended any of the caves around as well as Jelly Stone and Barren River Lake as some parks to lounge at.
