State police investigating officer-involved shooting in Laurel County

LONDON, Ky. – Kentucky State Police is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Laurel County.
KSP Post 11 says it was contacted on the evening of December 23 to investigate a shooting involving a London Police Department (LPD) officer. The shooting took place at 511 Vanzant Road.
KSP says its preliminary investigation shows LPD officers were attempting to execute a warrant in an ongoing investigation.
The investigation indicates that an LPD officer fired an agency-issued firearm. A man was struck by the discharge and sustained injuries.
First responders performed life-saving measures at the scene. The man was later pronounced deceased by the Laurel County Coroner’s Office.
KSP says no other injuries were reported.
The investigation is ongoing.
