State police conducting murder investigation in Bullitt County

SHEPHERDSVILLE, Ky. – Kentucky State Police is investigating an alleged murder in Bullitt County.

KSP Post 4 says it received a call from the Pioneer Village Police Department on Sunday morning. PVPD requested KSP to investigate a fatal shooting that happened inside a residence on the 3000 block of Pioneer Trail.

KSP’s preliminary investigation shows Aaron Welker, 33, of Shepherdsville, sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head.

KSP detectives say Kent Russell, 34, of Shepherdsville, was at the scene.

KSP charged Russell with murder and transported him to the Bullitt County Detention Center.

The investigation is ongoing.
