State of emergency declared for Warren, Simpson counties as cleanup continues

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Warren County and Simpson County are under a state of emergency due to severe weather impacts on the areas.
According to a Facebook post by Warren County Government on Monday, Warren County judge executive Doug Gorman officially declared a state of emergency for the county.
The post further states the county received multiple calls about trees and lines blocking roads.
Several utility companies, along with Warren County Road Department, Bowling Green City Street Department and The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, are also working hard to assist, officials say.
Simpson County judge executive Mason Barnes took the same action yesterday, later leading News 40 through some of the damage in the area.
The state of emergency is ongoing as Barnes says cleanup will take days.
Barnes said Tuesday that a debris drop site is located at an empty lot off of Kenneth Utley Drive in Franklin, Kentucky. It will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily on May 31 and June 1, then again on June 7 and 8.
