St. Teresa Thrift Store gearing up for 40 Days of Giving Lenten Challenge

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – St. Teresa thrift store in Bowling Green is kicking off its 40 Days of Lenten Giving Challenge next week.

This is the second year the clothing and furniture store has held the event.

The challenge runs Feb. 18th through April 4th, encouraging donations to support elderly residents and low-income families in Warren County.

Event managers say the 40-day challenge is about giving back and making a difference in the community.

“During Lent, there are three facets. There’s prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, and I’m giving is the one that people often forget about and that is doing something good or donating resources, whether it’s your time or donations,” explained Director of Development and Marketing Jennifer Bailey.

“We’re just encouraging the community to come out and support us during Lent and donate, donate, donate” she added.

St. Teresa Store Manager Patty Polston also talked about the impact these donations can have, and how the challenge gives everyone a chance to make a positive difference in the community.

“Through donations, which could be clothing, toys, housewares, what we do here at the thrift store is fund two food pantries.  We also support other non-profits in the community. So we can give back in as many ways as we can to the community,” said Polston.

The thrift store encourages those who want to donate to gently set aside one item each day and drop off your donation bag by April 4th at their location, located at 600 US 31-W ByPass Suite 18B.
