St. Patrick’s Day recap: Lost River Cave turns green

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Lots of St. Patrick’s Day celebrations happened over the weekend, and at one local spot, you might still see some spirit of the holiday.

Lost River Cave turned emerald, thanks to help from the Crawford Hydrology Laboratory dyeing the river green.

Not only did this tie in with the holiday celebration but they used the opportunity to talk about the benefits of dye tracing to study groundwater.

“Dye Tracing is a process that Karst hydrologists use in order to map the flow of groundwater and it’s a great educational tool to show people how the area they live in is actually studied,” said Justin Jennings, the CEO at Lost River Cave.

The green dye is expected to disappear as the sun continues to hit the water, but the fun colored river was quite the hit with the kids over the weekend.
