Springfield man flees police on motorcycle, facing reckless driving, wanton endangerment charges
LOGAN COUNTY, Ky. – A Springfield man is facing several charges after fleeing police on Saturday.
According to the Adairville Police Department, a motorcycle was traveling 30 miles per hour over the speed limit while traveling north on U.S. Route 431. The motorcycle was passing other vehicles in a no-passing zone.
The operator of the motor vehicle failed to stop and continued to the Nashville Road and bypass intersection. The operator did not stop and almost collided with another vehicle. The vehicle continued north.
The vehicles proceeded on Highway 96, made two U-turns and several turns, and traveled back onto Nashville Road.
The motorcycle came to a stop after the engine became disabled on Mortimer Station Road in Adairville.
Police say that as they approached, the operator reached into a bag on the motorcycle for a firearm.
According to the citation, the operator stepped away from the vehicle and then complied with commands from the officers.
The operator of the motorcycle is identified as Donnell Dunbar, 51 of Springfield, TN.
Police say Dunbar had 1.7 grams of marijuana.
Dunbar declined to contact an attorney and a blood test.
Dunbar is charged with possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia buy/possess, failure to produce an insurance card, speeding 26 mph or > speed limit, reckless driving, improper passing, disregarding traffic cont. dev-traffic light, oper mtr vehicle u/infl cont sub (189a.010(1d) – 1st, wanton endangerment-2nd degree, wanton endangerment-1st degree-police officer, failure to or improper signal, and fleeing or evading police – 1st offense.
Dunbar is lodged at the Logan County Detention Center.
The Logan County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Adairville Police Department in the pursuit and apprehension of Dunbar.
