Spencer steps down as head coach of Franklin-Simpson boys basketball

FRANKLIN, Ky. – After 14 seasons leading the Franklin-Simpson High School boys basketball program, it was announced on Wednesday that head coach Dee Spencer has resigned from the role.

In a statement, Franklin-Simpson athletics thanked him for all of his work in growing the program, saying, “Throughout his tenure, Coach Spencer has invested countless hours in developing our student-athletes both on and off the court, and his commitment to our school community has made a lasting impact.”

Spencer eclipsed 200 career coaching victories this past season with the Wildcats and led his group back to the 4th Region Tournament inside of Diddle Arena for the 12th time.

The Wildcats also won the 13th District Tournament five times in Spencer’s tenure.

Franklin-Simpson shared that Spencer will continue to teach at the school following the announcement.

“As we look ahead, Simpson County Schools is excited about the future of our boys basketball program. We remain committed to providing meaningful opportunities for our student-athletes and continuing a tradition of pride and excellence in our schools and extracurricular programs.”
