Special Olympics Area 5 Track and Field meet returns to Bowling Green Saturday

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Special Olympics Kentucky Area 5 Track and Field meet will return to Bowling Green High School on Saturday, April 26.
The meet includes over 170 athletes from Allen, Barren, Butler, Christian, Logan, Metcalfe, Simpson, Todd and Warren counties, according to Special Olympics Kentucky.
The event will kickoff with opening ceremonies, including the parade of athletes, at 8 a.m. The competition begins at 9 a.m.
While at the meet, participants compete for the opportunity to advance to the Special Olympics Kentucky State Summer Games that will be held June 6 through June 8 at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond.
Special Olympics Area Track and Field season concludes May 10 in Louisville.
In total, more than 950 athletes are expected to participate in these area track and field competitions this year.
