Spay/neuter to avoid stray animals in spring
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.-With spring upon us, it’s the time of year where a lot more animals are roaming around, especially cats.
Animal control officers say to make sure to get your cat spayed or neutered to control the animal population. High population numbers can be the result of unexpected litters, and those animals are often euthanized or end up as strays.
Stray animals can pose many problems, such as preying on wildlife, causing car accidents, and frightening citizens.
You can get your animals spayed or neutered at the Bowling Green Warren County Humane Society.
“Typically when the weather is nicer, the animals are more active, they like to go out and roam and be out in the sun,” said animal control officer Lisa Henderson.
The officers also advise owners to not let cats stray off their property.
