South Warren college/career coach honored with Pathfinder Award

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – South Warren High School celebrated Thursday as College and Career Coach Julie Waddell was honored with the 2024 High School Teacher/Counselor Pathfinder Award by Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College.

According to SKYCTC, this accolade is part of a statewide initiative led by the Kentucky Community & Technical College System to acknowledge high school educators who excel in preparing students for their college careers.

The release states the Pathfinder Award is granted annually to educators who demonstrate exceptional commitment to helping students navigate their future academic and career pathways. Waddell’s recognition is a testament to her dedication to student success, both within and beyond the classroom, SKYCTC says.

“Educators like Ms. Waddell play a critical role in shaping the futures of our young people, ensuring they are equipped for success in higher education, their careers, and the community at large,” said Dr. Phillip Neal, President and CEO of SKYCTC. “Ms. Waddell exemplifies the spirit of the Pathfinder Award through her unwavering commitment to empowering students to pursue their dreams.”

Waddell’s selection was among nearly 250 nominations from all KCTCS colleges, with one educator selected from each of the 16 institutions.

The criteria for the award included promoting SKYCTC as a postsecondary option, assisting students in career and educational planning, providing mentorship, and maintaining ongoing support for students.

The release states this award highlights the significant impact that dedicated educators like Waddell have on their students and the broader community, ensuring that the path to college and career readiness is accessible and enriched with guidance and support.
