SoKY Ice Rink offering lessons for growing hockey community

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -Bowling Green is slowly becoming a hockey town and with the close proximity to the Nashville Predators, Bowling Green is creating some life long fans of hockey.

The SoKY Ice Rink is hosting a different event for both adults and children who are looking to both get into the sport and refine the skills they already have. The SoKY Ice Rink offers a host of opportunities if you or your children are looking to learn more about the sport.

“We teach kids of all ages, all abilities. I think we go from about four years old to 16. And we divide by ages, have several different camps for them. Throughout the season. We’ll go from beginner never played hockey before to a kid who plays high school hockey and wants to hone some of his skills. So we kind of cover it all. We sit out here, we do drills, skills come up with scrimmages and games, all for the kids to get a little bit better or more comfortable, confident, playing hockey,” said Bowling Green Park and Rec’s special project coordinator Ryan Pattee.

Every Tuesday night from 6 to 7 p.m. ending on Jan. 28, the rink will be hosting the 10U SoKY hockey camp.

Coaches will help your little ones refine their hockey skills while learning more about the game.

Nashville Predators staff will also be visiting on Jan. 21 to help kids ages 4 to 9. The Preds will supply all equipment so no need to worry about buying supplies.

Finally, to end the SoKY Ice Rink experience, the BG Puck Classic will be played on Feb. 1. There will be a tournament for ages 10-15 and 16 plus.
