SKYCTC launches GED PLUS

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.-There’s a new program in Bowling Green to help people earn a GED and a college certificate at the same time. South Central Kentucky Community and Technical College has launched GED Plus.
The program seeks to get more people into high-demand industries at a faster rate.
Healthcare, construction and IT are a few of the industries that students can receive a college certificate for.
SKYCTC will also give a $400 scholarship to the first thousand people to enroll in the program.
“There’s a lot of data showing that employers are looking for more than just a high school diploma. In the years since the recession took a hit, high school diploma jobs are less and less, and more of these jobs that are highly skilled have emerged,” Brian Becker, director of adult education at SKYCTC.
Kentucky adults who have not earned a high school diploma or GED, or those out of school for a while, are all eligible to enroll in the program.
