Sinkhole at Cumberland Trace Elementary

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – It’s something we’re used to at this point, and school officials aren’t too worried.

News 40 came to find out there’s a sinkhole under the parking lot of Cumberland Trace Elementary, and speaking to Warren County Public School system’s Chief Financial Officer, it doesn’t seem to be anything dangerous. Chris McIntyre told News 40 it’s not big, just far down.

The crew is about 40 feet deep and remedying the hole as you read this article, looking to fix it with layers of filter fabric and rock to keep it form growing. The interesting thing News 40 discovered is that in every building project for the last 18 years, according to McIntyre’s recollection, there’s been a sinkhole at some point.

The accountant said that this current incident shouldn’t affect school starting in August.
