Shelby County jail employee facing misconduct, sodomy charges

SHELBYVILLE, Ky. – Kentucky State Police is investigating allegations made against a jail employee.

KSP Post 12 says it was requested to investigate a complaint at the Shelby County Detention Center on April 4.

The allegations were made against a jail employee who allegedly committed inappropriate behavior toward a female inmate on April 1.

Detectives say the jail employee, while on duty, made sexual advances toward a female inmate.

The jail employee, Ladonis Mayfield, 31, of Taylorsville, was arrested and is charged with second-degree sodomy position of authority and first-degree official misconduct.

Mayfield is lodged at the Oldham County Detention Center.

The investigation is ongoing.
