Shake Rag: Then and Now Walking Tour

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – On Saturday, Feb. 17, the George Washington Carver Center will be hosting a free event to the public.

The tour starts at 2 p.m. at the old Southern Queen hotel in the Shake Rag district of Bowling Green and will snake through the historic black neighborhood. The event is in celebration of Black History Month and the center wants to host this for the community to remember some local history.

News 40 spoke to Anna Beason about the walk, someone who called Shake Rag home decades ago.

Beason said they are excited to have the community come out and learn about a part of the city many don’t know about as well as fill everyone in on what all the George Washington Carver Center can offer to folks.
