Sen. Rand Paul stops at Berry Global in Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Sen. Rand Paul visited Berry Global in Bowling Green so the company could show off its recycling efforts.

The company makes plastic wrap for many consumer products and works with their clients to get as much back as possible to recycle.

Plastic waste has been a serious concern for many recently.

Paul said, “Sounds like a lot of things that are happening out here are actually good for the community, and they’re working with modern technology to reuse a lot of the plastic that gets used over and over again. So I think the goal of everyone is really to see that we can get more of it done.”

Paul was critical of residential recycling, suggesting that picking up a small amount of metal, glass and plastic from individual homes had its own environmental cost, especially since the materials might still end up in a landfill.

The senator suggested that industries would be the best to work with recyclables simply because of the amounts they handle.
