Sen. Rand Paul in Hartford on tornado relief

HARTFORD, Ky.- Earlier today, Senator Rand Paul met with first responders and local leaders in Hartford for an update on storm damage and relief efforts.

Senator Paul spoke about clearing debris from the streams so the city does not have flooding problems as spring comes.

He also touched on what is working with FEMA, and the appeals process if someone is denied assistance.

Paul said now that we’re six weeks out from the disasters, you gain a lot more perspective on the goodness of other people.

“I think the main thing I see as I travel from community to community is just the community spirit. People believe that they are their brother’s keeper, churches, leaders, people out on the site and doing utility work as just volunteers you know,” said Paul

The senator also is traveling to Bremen, Clay, Eddyville and Pembroke today.
