Sen. Max Wise is ‘Principal for a Day’ at Metcalfe County High School
EDMONTON, Ky. – Metcalfe County High School got a new principal, but just for the day.
Kentucky Sen. Max Wise spent the morning at the school speaking to students and staff and listening to their concerns.
He says it’s important for the work he will be doing in the General Assembly, and it will help him do that job better.
His visit comes the same week that saw the defeat of Amendment 2 in Kentucky, a change to the Kentucky Constitution that would have allowed the use of tax revenues to fund private schools.
Wise says, “The voters spoke. And I think as legislators, you know, we will respect that. I do think that there’s still some opportunities to look at innovative ways to help school districts that are struggling.”
The Principal for a Day program gives legislators a first-hand look at school systems and is conducted by the Kentucky Association of School Administrators.
