SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. – A Scottsville man is facing charges after deputies say he led them on a chase Thursday through Allen County.

According to the Allen County Sheriff’s Office, authorities attempted to stop a vehicle on Smiths Grove Road near the New Glasgow Road intersection.

Deputies say the vehicle began to flee north on Smiths Grove Road and tried several times to strike deputy cruisers.

The suspect, identified as Bill Cook, 45, then stopped at the intersection of Oliver Circle and Meador Port Oliver Road before running from the vehicle and into a nearby structure.

Cook was taken into custody without further incident.

Cook was later found to be a suspect in multiple theft cases in nearby counties, deputies say, and multiple stolen firearms were recovered from his property during a search.

Cook faces charges of first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), first-degree wanton endangerment (police officer), second-degree fleeing or evading police (on foot), possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and receiving stolen property (firearm).

He remains at the Allen County Detention Center.
