Scottsville man charged after reported stabbing incident

SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. – A Scottsville man is behind bars after another man was stabbed during an alleged dispute.

According to a uniform citation, the Allen County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home regarding an assault around 11:24 a.m. Saturday.

Upon arrival, deputies say they learned a male victim had been stabbed multiple times and was being transported to The Medical Center at Scottsville.

A suspect, identified as 27-year-old Tyler Yoakem of Scottsville, was located on scene and detained.

Authorities say the victim stated that a verbal argument took place with Yoakem when Yoakem retrieved a knife and stabbed him several times. In addition, authorities say the victim stated Yoakem began to choke him and threatened to kill him.

The victim was injured on his lower abdomen, right hand, left arm and had marks on his neck, according to the citation.

The victim was transferred to Vanderbilt University Medical Hospital due to the severity of his injuries.

According to the citation, Yoakem stated he was in a verbal argument with the victim when the victim came after him and “ran into Yoakem’s knife.” Authorities say Yoakem stated it was self-defense.

Yoakem was arrested and transported to the Allen County Detention Center.

Yoakem is charged with first-degree assault, second-degree strangulation and third-degree terroristic threatening.
