Scottsville man arrested on drug trafficking charge

SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. – A Scottsville man is charged with drug offenses following a traffic stop on Monday.

The Scottsville Police Department says detectives with the Allen County-Scottsville Crime Task Force and Kentucky State Police conducted a traffic stop around 12:30 p.m. on a 2013 Chevrolet driven by 22-year-old Xzavier Smith, 22, of Scottsville.

Police say through an investigation, a Scottsville police K-9 was deployed and gave a positive alert on the vehicle.

According to authorities, a search led to the discovery of 10 ounces of methamphetamine.

In addition, police say a search warrant was conducted at Smith’s home, where they found items consistent with trafficking in illegal narcotics, along with a firearm.

Smith was arrested and charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), persistent felony offender II and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.

Smith remains at the Allen County Detention Center.
