Scam targeting floods victims impersonating KYTC
FRANKFORT, Ky. – Gov. Andy Beshear’s office is warning of a text message scam impersonating an official KYTC message.
According to a release by the governor’s office, the sender appears to target flood victims by including a link to send information related to the waiver of card and registration replacement fees.
The text message is not sent by KYTC, and recipients should not click the link.
Although the cabinet may send text messages about Driver Licensing Regional offices, it will never solicit personal information via text, stated the release.
Victims who have submitted any personal information should visit the Kentucky Office of the Attorney General website at ag.ky.gov and follow their guidance concerning potential identity theft.
