Safer Internet Day
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Kentucky State Police is partnering with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force to combat and mitigate internet incidents with kids.
Although Safer Internet Day is on Feb. 7, you can put some practices into place regularly to ensure technology is a safer place for your family.
With the dangers of the internet, law enforcement wants to get as much awareness out there as possible to help kids stay safe. The reality is that there are some people out there who look to take advantage of younger minors and law enforcement agencies want to bolster parents and caretakers ability to protect their kids.
Things law enforcement advocate for are things like keeping track of your household’s digital footprint, making sure you know what internet traffic is going through your home. You also want to keep your kid’s devices where you can see them, and look for signs of something awry. That could include things like mood swings and outbursts.
Law enforcement also asks you to conduct yourself online as you would ask them to.
