Russellville man indicted on criminal child abuse charges

RUSSELLVILLE, Ky. – A Russellville man is facing criminal child abuse charges involving a minor under the age of 12.

According to an indictment, 39-year-old John Carnahan of Russellville was indicted on two counts of first-degree criminal abuse, child 12 or under.

Carnahan was arrested on July 9., according to jail records.

The indictment, which court records state was filed on June 10, states that between January 2022 and May 2024, Carnahan “intentionally abused” a child on two or more occasions, “placing him in a situation that may cause him serious physical injury or causing torture, cruel confinement or cruel punishment.”

Carnahan remains at the Logan County Detention Center on a $50,000 cash bond.
