Russellville, Logan County students race to shop for a cause in Supermarket Sweep

RUSSELLVILLE, Ky. – It was a race to win Wednesday morning at the Russellville IGA.
Students from Russellville High School and Logan County Schools competed in a Supermarket Sweep, shopping as fast as they could before time ran out.
However, this wasn’t just a test of speed. Independence Bank says Supermarket Sweep is working to bring awareness to needs faced by the local aging population.
With colder weather, older adults may be less likely to head outdoors – but thanks to this event, some won’t need to. The bank says it purchased the entire collection gathered by students and will have it delivered to older adults in need on Nov. 13.
The winner, Russellville High School, received $500 from Independence Bank.
