Russellville family displaced after Sunday evening house fire

RUSSELLVILLE, Ky. – A Russellville family is displaced after a home fire.
Russellville Rural Fire Department Chief Cheryl Allen says the department responded to a structure on Sunday evening.
At the scene, firefighters observed smoke emitting from a home.
The homeowner said a power outage caused a “loud bang.” Smoke was visible from an area of the house where a water heater and propane heater were located.
The fire spread from the corner of the home to under the floor. The fire spread to the attic.
Allen says firefighters extinguished the fire and searched for hidden fires.
The department rescued a family pet and salvaged some items inside the home.
The home suffered fire and water damage.
Allen says the family does not have insurance on the home and will be displaced.
The Russellville Rural Fire Department was assisted by the Auburn Rural Fire Department, Chaplin Marney, and Logan County EMS.
