BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Multiple projects to improve safety and mobility on Kentucky 185 in Warren County have started their early phases.

Drivers may notice changes, however, transportation officials say the majority of current work is being done off of the roadway.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said Monday that projects include a realignment section as well as a Highway Safety Improvement Project. The realignment will feature wider travel lanes and shoulders, officials say.

The realignments section of KY 185 will also create a new road east of the current KY 185 that starts near Runner Road and tying back into the current KY 185 south of KY 1320.

According to transportation officials, the projects represent a $15.97 million investment into improving safety on KY 185 in northern Warren County.

“The primary goals of these projects are to enhance safety and provide greater reliability for motorists,” said Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Chief District 3 chief engineer Joe Plunk. “KY 185 is a major route that serves not only citizens of northern Warren County but also commuters from Butler, Edmonson, and Grayson counties.”

The safety project will include a section from KY 1320 to Jack Simmons Road, which will improve drainage and ditching, along with resurfacing.

Both of these projects are set to be complete in summer of 2026.
