GLASGOW, Ky. – Two people are facing charges after an alleged vehicle theft from Western Kentucky University.

According to a uniform citation obtained by News 40, the Kentucky State Police received a complaint Wednesday to attempt to locate a possible stolen car off of the 5600 block of Scottsville Road in Barren County.

Troopers say the owner had called and found the vehicle location.

Authorities say they responded to the scene and located a female in the passenger seat, identified as Alicia Ankney, 29, of Bowling Green.

Ankney stated her friend had gone to get gasoline, authorities say. When the male subject returned, he was identified as Daniel Stock, 22, of Bowling Green.

Troopers say they Ankney and Stock stated they did not know who the owner of the vehicle was but that they had permission from “Christina” to borrow the car. They stated the key was inside and that they had taken the vehicle from WKU’s campus, the citation says.

When authorities made contact with the owner’s daughter, who drives the vehicle, they say she stated she was not aware it had been stolen and that she did not know a Christina. She stated she did not give permission for anyone to borrow the car, troopers say.

Troopers say WKU reviewed surveillance footage, which showed a male and female looking around the car before taking it from the property. Authorities say Stock possessed the same clothing as what the male was wearing in the video.

Ankney and Stock were arrested and charged with receiving stolen property of $10,000 or more.

Both remain at the Barren County Detention Center.
