Repairs near completion on Butler Co. road affected by landslide

Work is almost finished on a stretch of road that was affected by a landslide earlier this year.

Kentucky Road 340, also known as Brooklyn Road, was damaged last spring.

Since that time, major repairs and drainage improvements have been made on the road.

It has been closed down now for several months, but according to officials with District 3 of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, the roadway should reopen at the end of the month.

"It has created a lot of issues," said Wes Watt, with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. "This is a major repair. We have to go in and fix the roadway, but we also have to fix the bank and the land around it. We have to improve the drainage to try and make sure this doesn’t happen again. It’s certainly a big challenge for us."

The cost for the repairs is just over $546,000. Due to the fact that the damage was caused by a weather-related issue, funding for the project is coming from FEMA.
